Food Safety Hotline - 1-800-752-2751

The hotline is available 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday through Friday. 

Consumers with food safety questions can call the above toll-free number and know that they are receiving reliable information about their food safety questions.

The Food Safety Hotline has been in operation since 1985, by Ohio State University's Food Industries Center. In June 2009 a grant from the Center for Innovative Food Technology, with support from Kroger, has allowed the university to hire students to respond to consumer questions.  

 

 

Social Security

We often get the question: "How much can I make before social security is taken away form me?"

The quick answer is if you are over the age of 66 you can make as much as you want at a job and your social security benefits will not be reduced.

For those under social security full retirement age, now about age 66, your social security benefits will be reduced $1.00 for every $2.00 you earn over $14,160 in in 2009.  There is a different formula for the year in which you reaching full retirement age.
